Description

Quantum T5-RS Ford Escort

The T5-RS is a machined aluminum single adjustable damper.  This option assumes donor front Bilstien 40mm struts.

Using a 40mm main piston, low-pressure gas mono tube structure designed by QUANTUM. This performance damper is a great allround unit. It can be valved for any use whether fast road or race.

The second floating piston, which is incorporated in the body separates the Nitrogen from the oil and helps prevent cavitation. The damper has been designed to inherently reduce friction and provide a high response rate whilst maintaining a strong structure.

When building and specifying a damper it is essential that the damping rates are correct. Without the base setting of the internal valve shims and piston choice no amount of adjustment can make the set up correct. QRS have undertaken detailed analysis of each vehicles dynamics and then tested the results.

The dampers have strong characteristics such as traction and initial steering response, damping force adjustment over a wide range (0,04 m / sec 0.001m/sec ~) fine low-speed range, which is a major feature of the T5-RS damper. Pitching and roll control is superior allowing greater control of the vehicls performance. QRS T5-RS damper is a simple, high performance shock absorber that can be internally configured for any track and externally tuned with a single adjuster.

The adjuster affects both low speed compression and Rebound. The concept of this design is that the shaft and functional components are located on the centerline, giving them minimal operating distances. The response of this damper is extremely good for higher frequency and short travel Situations.

The T5-RS also features the 2nd-Piston positioned in the main cylinder which is designed to run lower gas Pressures. (3 bar to 8 bar = 40 psi to 120 psi) This piston, can be set up to suit how much damping force is required, it can be set to optimize the response time of the damper and allow for extremely low pressures without any risk of cavitation.
